Education and Training

Our Objectives

The Institute believes education and training is a life-long opportunity which should be viewed in the broadest terms, starting with initial qualifications gained at college, university or through distance-learning programmes. This is followed by continuing professional development through attendance at conferences, seminars, training courses, competence assessment schemes, workshops, technical meetings, site visits and the updating of knowledge by reading the Institute’s journals, technical and management papers and textbooks.

University of Derby - "A Unique Partnership"

In 2007, The Institute signed a partnership agreement with UoD by which the university delivers a distance learning course and The Institute undertakes the responsibility to maintain the accuracy, currency and relevance of the teaching materials.  The course prepares students to sit an examination for a Diploma in Quarry Technology accredited by the university with a value of 180 CATS points (equivalent to half a degree).  This diploma replaces the IQ Professional examination. In addition, further industry specific qualifications have been developed over the last several years.

University Diploma in Quarry Technology
University Certificate in Quarry Studies

University Certificate - International Quarry Operations
Certificate of Achievement in Concrete Technology (Concrete Society Partner)
