NEW HOME FOR IQ!

At its meeting on 7 February 2012, Council agreed to the purchase of a new building at Chilwell on the outskirts of Nottingham to serve as a new centre of excellence for education and training for the extractive sector and also to provide a high quality meeting room facility. The building will be shared with MPQC and a new Executive Director is being sought to lead both staff teams. (If you are interested in applying for this position please click here for details).

The Journal Company (QMJ Publishing), with which IQ has shared both staff and offices since 1924, will remain at the present office in the centre of Nottingham under the direction of Jack Berridge.

One of the main reasons for moving to Chilwell is to provide a centrally located meeting hub for the various organisations that operate within the extractive industries. To this end, the new facility will be just a few minutes drive from J25 of the M1 and within two miles of three railway stations providing links to Nottingham/Leicester/London and Derby/Sheffield. For visitors coming from further afield, the new centre will be within a 20 minute drive of East Midlands Airport.

Two meeting rooms, to accommodate from 6-35 persons are being planned and they will be fitted out with 'state of the art' audio visual and teleconferencing facilities. Needless to say, both IQ and MPQC committee and Council meetings will be transferred to Chilwell as soon as possible.
