Our Lunch and Learn session this month welcomed David Jameson, a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Geologist and member of the IMMM with over 25 years’ international consulting experience in the mining, quarrying and construction sectors.

David is a Partner at GWP Consultants LLP, an independent firm of geologists, hydrogeologists and geotechnical engineers specialising in the mining, quarrying and civils sectors.

During the bitesize session we took a look at:

  • The definition of geotechnical assessment in relation to the Quarries Regulations 1999
  • The origins of Regulations
  • A look at adequate Assessment and how other areas of the Regulations are interlinked to it
  • Examples of structural failure and what is required by way of design
