Babcock is delighted to be one of the inaugural companies to join the Institute of Quarrying’s Corporate Professional Competence Scheme through the PRIME (Professional Recognition In Mineral Extractives) Project. We believe that this accreditation standard is key to both focusing on the individual and in helping to mitigate some of the challenges that the industry currently faces through driving the upskilling, professionalism and active engagement of the workforce.

We believe that PRIME offers a significant opportunity to our people operating in the Mining & Construction sector as it provides a recognised pathway for continuous career progression as well as highlighting the contribution made by individuals.
In rolling this out across our Mining & Construction business, we are continually raising awareness of IQ & PRIME through internal communications, meetings and toolbox chats. IQ & PRIME is also driving our annual performance appraisal process, and as part of this, we will be providing a mentoring programme to our engineers as they progress through their CPD Programme.
