A challenging and exciting opportunity has arisen to take a leading role in the development of your Institute by applying to become either Deputy Chairman or a Trustee of the Institute.
The Institute of Quarrying is changing! Building upon our near 100-year heritage, we are now in an active phase of growth and development, guided by our clear ambition for the future to be a strong, attractive and relevant professional body with an emphasis on education and development for all our members. We are now looking to appoint strong candidates to the Board who share our drive and passion and who have the vision and creativity to help us to reach our goals.
Becoming an IQ Trustee offers fantastic opportunities to develop individual leadership and strategic skills, working alongside fellow Board members and supported by a highly capable team of staff.
The role of Deputy Chairman comes with significant leadership responsibilities. The new Deputy Chairman will become Chairman after a period of two years, and President following that. Applicants should therefore be prepared to serve a six-year term on the Board and should possess the skills and attributes required to lead and represent the Institute at the highest levels.
In addition, we are looking to appoint two further Trustees to serve on the Board, each for a period of two years. Responsible for the strategic and financial stewardship of the Institute, Trustees will need to commit to attending six-weekly Board meetings.
All three positions are subject to an initial shortlisting process, followed by election by members of the Institute. Applications are invited from Members or Fellows of IQ who can bring some of the following attributes to the Board:
- Knowledge of good governance principles
- Knowledge of the education sector and the work of other professional bodies
- An international perspective
- Experience of growing and developing a business, finance and auditing
- Strategic development and planning skills
- Communications and public relations experience
