The November technical meeting of the Yorkshire Branch for the 2016-17 season was held at the Bridge Inn, Wetherby. Members and guests heard a talk by Carl Pinches of Siemens and Richard Yeates of Underwoods Electrical Distributors about process automation and instrumentation in the minerals industry.

The second technical meeting of the Yorkshire Branch for the 2016-17 season was held at the usual venue of the Bridge Inn, Wetherby where the branch welcomed Robin Piper of Bell Plant for a talk on the technical improvements to mobile plant.

The Yorkshire Branch held its AGM and April meeting at the Bridge Inn, Wetherby, on Tuesday 12th April. In a traditionally short meeting, retiring Chairman Graham Lamond gave his summary of the year’s events and thanked the committee for their efforts and support. A commentary on the accounts was given by Treasurer Frank Lowe.

Annual dinner dance - Yorkshire Branch

The branch held its annual dinner and dance at the usual venue of the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate, on 19th March and welcomed Institute President, Anthony Morgan and his wife Hilary as the principle guests. Ably organised once again by Gordon Temple, the evening was a great success.

Primary crusher move at Cliffe Hill Quarry by Midland Quarry Products - Yorkshire Branch

The February meeting of the Yorkshire Branch saw a change of venue to the Stables at High Melton, Doncaster for the annual joint meeting with the Mineral Engineering Society. The topic was the primary crusher move at Cliffe Hill Quarry by Midland Quarry Products (MQP). The large turnout of 46 members welcomed the MQP team of Managing Director Dave Bagshaw, Engineering Manager Bob Davies and Quarry Manager Paul Campion.
