Honorary Fellowship Rules
Honorary Fellowships are awarded by Council in recognition of very distinguished service, either to the Institute or to the quarrying industry, at the highest levels.
Rules
- In the case of Institute members awards are only normally made in the
following circumstances:
- the successful completion of a period of office as International President
- in recognition of a major contribution to important work of the Institute such as educational development
- to mark the retirement of a long-serving official who has made a major contribution to the progress of the Institute
- Honorary Fellowships for service to industry can also be made to both members and non-members. Such awards are quite rare but have included very senior Mining Inspectors/Engineers and a few 'captains of industry'.
- All awards are administered by the Policy Committee and nominations should be submitted to the Secretary by 31 December for consideration the following year.
- The nomination must be made in confidence without the knowledge of the individual concerned and it is therefore recommended that the Nottingham office be approached for advice before a written submission is made.
