Mission Statement

"To advance the science, practice and professionalism of quarrying through education, training and the encouragement of progressive improvements in standards of business, technical and environmental performance."

Objectives

  1. Financial - To manage and develop the financial resources of the Institute to ensure that the Mission and Objectives can be met.
  2. Membership - To achieve a growth in UK membership in accordance with targets set by Council.
  3. Education - To develop and implement a training strategy to ensure that both initial education and ongoing professional development opportunities are available for the industry.
  4. Affiliation - To assist the overseas division and branches so as to ensure a smooth transition to the Affiliated structure and thereafter maintain close relationships.
  5. External Relations - To establish and maintain links with industry-linked trade, professional and educational organisations both in the UK and overseas in order to foster both the development of the Institute and a better public understanding of the industry.
  6. Environment - To ensure that care for the environment and the optimisation of natural resources are the concern of all members.
