Description

Dr Stephanie Greshon, Senior Lecturer in Conservation Biology and Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) degree programme in Environmental Science at Bath Spa University has been part of the Biology teaching team in the School of Sciences since 2014.

Stephanie comes from a background of professional environmental consultancy where she ran her own ecological consultancy company for over 20 years. During her time as an ecological consultant, Stephanie specialised in providing professional ecological support to a range of clients, primarily from the mineral extraction industry.

Prior to starting her own business, Stephanie worked at Hanson Aggregates in their Natural Resources Department based at Whatley Quarry, and was part of a mulit-disciplinary team supporting major planning applications.

"The topic of my talk is Biodiversity in Quarries and if this can be a successful approach to achieving sustainability. I will refer to two case studies and also talk about our research on sand lizard breeding sites at Hanson's Masters Quarry in Dorset as part of Heidelberg Materials Quarry Life Award 5th Edition. I managed a team of ten staff and students who entered a project into the Research Stream competition and won both the National Award and the award for Habitats and Species research in the International competition."
