Description

The Midlands branch are delighted to present their first event of the year which is invaluable should you conduct drill and blast operations at your quarry. Dr Liam Birmingham, Senior Explosives Engineer, (EPC-UK) will present case studies of bulk explosive truck fires that have occurred, the impacts of the fires and the lessons that we must learn. Whilst the possibility of a fire on a quarry site are low, the impact is significant, so this raises a number of questions: Do we know what to do if a fire was to occur? Have we carried out safety drills for a full site evacuation? What is a safe distance from a bulk explosive truck that has caught fire? Do you know who to call if local infrastructure could be impacted? The presentation should be approximately 1 hour in duration with Q&A afterwards. The IQ Midlands branch hope you can join us to learn about this important subject, and we are grateful to Liam for volunteering to deliver this invaluable CPD session.
