Description

The first Derbyshire Branch technical event of 2026 is a presentation by Melanie Brewster of Assessus Ltd on 'Noise - What to look for in a good practitioner'. This talk will highlight the necessary competencies an employer and employee should observe (and an HSE inspector would expect) when appointing a provider, or when undertaking a hearing assessment. It will be beneficial for highlighting what to look for when choosing a competent provider for delivering your health surveillance program under The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. Assessing an employee for the presence of noise-induced hearing loss requires considerable competency both at the testing stage and the advisory stage in the event of abnormal findings. Training to become an audiologist in the NHS is 4 years. Training to conduct a hearing test in the workplace is just 2 days. Please confirm your attendance by Monday 26th January 2026 to John Hattersley on: 07806 708 542 or john.hattersley@me.com. Please note, a lite meal and refreshments will be available on the night.
