The Northern Ireland branch field trip runs from 6 to 8 September 2026, taking in the EDF nuclear power plant and MST Engineering factory near Edinburgh, then the Komatsu factory in Birtley. Places are limited.

About this event
The Institute of Quarrying Northern Ireland Branch will be holding a Field Trip from 6th to 8th September 2026, taking in the EDF nuclear power plant and the MST Engineering factory near Edinburgh, followed by the Komatsu factory in Birtley.
The trip flies out of Belfast International Airport on the Sunday and returns to Belfast late on the Tuesday evening, with overnight stays on both the Sunday and Monday.
Places and cost
Places are limited, so an early expression of interest is recommended. Prices are to be confirmed closer to the date.

Day 1, Sunday 6 September: travel to Edinburgh
09:00 - 20:00 BST, 6 September
Fly out of Belfast International Airport to Edinburgh. Overnight stay.
Day 2, Monday 7 September: EDF and MST Engineering
09:00 - 20:00 BST, 7 September
Tour of the EDF nuclear power plant, then a visit to the MST Engineering factory where all the industry buckets are made. Overnight stay.
Day 3, Tuesday 8 September: Komatsu factory, Birtley
09:00 - 20:00 BST, 8 September
Visit to the Komatsu factory in Birtley, then fly back to Belfast late evening.
