Description

The Yorkshire branch are pleased to announce we have a site visit to Tarmac Swinden and Threshfield Quarries on Tuesday, 13th May 2025 between 09:30 and 13:30. We will meet at Tarmac Swinden visitor centre at 09:30. The visit will begin with an introduction to Tarmac and the history of Swinden Quarry by Operations Manager, Lea Lambert, before moving onto a tour of the quarry base, plant site and rail sidings. We will then move to Swinden’s predecessor Threshfield Quarry to look at the restored site, crayfish ponds, archaeology and viewing platform on the top of the quarry. There may be an opportunity to perhaps walk across part of it, weather permitting. Then its back to Swinden for a light lunch. Full PPE must be worn by all visitors. Numbers are limited to 20 so ensure you register early by email to yorkshirebranch@quarrying.org
